Together with an affordable vocal mic such as the Audio Technica AT2035, a boom stand, reflection diffuser, a couple of cables and a decent pair of headphones, you're good to go.įor a fraction of what I've spent, too! □ It also costs hundreds of Euros/pounds/dollars less than similar interfaces from RME, UAD, Audient et al, and you will not need a d.i. The SSL2 has excellent pre-amps, is sensibly designed, extremely capable, and comes with a software bundle that you will be able to record with immediately. Therefore, I would strongly recommend you look at the Solid State Logic SSL2 2x2 USB interface. The Duo doesn't have enough dsp horsepower for real-time tracking using these plugins - nor even for a monitor mix that utilizes them. Though it a) performs well and has pretty good pre-amps, and b) a usable plugin bundle, c) the harsh fact is that with just two SHARC processors, the Apollo Twin cannot run very many of the dsp-heavy Universal Audio plugins I subsequently purchased. Nowhere in the UAD fine-print did I find the Apollo Twin X Duo's Achilles heel:.It cost thousands less than a comparable Mac.My setup is stable, powerful, and reasonably future-proof.Accordingly, I built my workstation around an Asus B550 ProArt Creator motherboard, which has Thunderbolt 4 baked in. My desire for low/negligible rtl (round trip latency) pushed me in that direction. Though I have a UAD Thunderbolt interface, I probably wouldn't repeat the purchase.
